Nanofiber membrane laminate offers a wide range of use in industrial as well as clothing applications. Typical clothing applications are jackets, trousers, gloves, hats or sweaters. So far, nanofiber membrane has not been used in footwear which has similar requirements to outdoor clothing, the main three comfort properties being steam permeability, hydrostatic resistance and wind-resistance. Other properties like heat resistance and abrasion resistance would require a higher quality in shoes than in outdoor clothing. In the first stage, it was necessary to produce a nanofibrous layer of polyamide 6 and then laminate the produced nanofibrous membrane together with other textile materials to form a shoe shape, which is then placed inside a shoe made of leather or woven or knitted fabric. Thermophysiological comfort was chosen as the comparison factor for each laminate, as this is the most important factor in the evaluation of outdoor and sports footwear. The main test criteria were hydrostatic resistance and vapor permeability. Nanofiber laminate for footwear shows very good comfort properties, especially good water vapor permeability. The 3-layer laminate has a water vapor resistance Ret of 4.4 Pa.m2.W-1 and a hydrostatic resistance of a 15 000 mm water column. The 4-layer laminate has a water vapor resistance Ret of higher than 11, depending on the thermal insulation layer used, and a hydrostatic resistance of more than a 30 000 mm water column.
