In this paper, we compare k-constant stress and k-step stress accelerated life tests under progressive-type-I censoring under the constraint that the total experimental cost does not exceed a predetermined budget. We calculate the parameters' Fisher information matrices and maximum likelihood estimates. The problem of choosing the optimal time is addressed by using D-, E-, T-, C-, R-, and P-optimal criteria under cost constraints. A sensitivity analysis for improper model parameter choice is performed on the optimum stress periods. The efficiency of the optimum stress periods is demonstrated using simulation and numerical examples.
