Abstract This paper proposes an online measurement-based method for determining Thevenin equivalent circuit parameters of a comprehensive power system that part of which is out of reach. The external network equivalent circuit is estimated using simultaneous measurement of voltage and current , also active and reactive power transmitted between specific boundary buses. The measurement errors and noise Due to the effect of measuring equipments are taken into account by utilizing extra measurements and applying the least squares method to find the equivalent model parameters. A method has been proposed to eliminate disturbances caused by external system changes that can be used for the parameter identification process. Base on Innovation of the proposed method for estimating the Thevenin equivalent circuit model of external power grids uses only continuous measurements of the amplitude parameters of the boundary nodes in far areas. The performance of the proposed method has been demonstrated by using the IEEE 39 bus system.
