چکیده

Sintered hydroxyapatite (HA) has long been used as a bone graft material; however, due to its high crystallinity, it exhibits limited biological replacement even after prolonged implantation. This study reports the formation of poorly crystalline, bone-like hydroxyapatite at low temperatures. The apatite was produced by mixing equimolar tetracalcium phosphate and dicalcium phosphate powders with distilled water to form a self-setting cement. XRD results revealed partial HA formation after 24 h, which increased markedly after two weeks in Ringer’s solution. Despite its low compressive strength (~14 MPa), SEM analysis showed that the cement’s porous microstructure closely resembles that of natural bone mineral.
