This study reveals improved corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of Al-Mg- Sc-Zr-Ag alloys through optimized processing routes. Compared with conventional T6 treatment, the pre-aging combined with pre-deformation before aging enhances the strength and corrosion resistance of the alloy via the mechanism between dislocations and nano-scale precipitates. The non-recrystallization annealing ( NRA) further improves the corrosion resistance owing to the high density of dislocation cells and low-angle grain boundaries (LAGBs). Meanwhile, the NRA-treated alloy maintains mechanical properties comparable to that of the T6-treated alloy. This work provides a novel method and theoretical basis for achieving corrosion resistance-strength synergy of aluminum alloys.
