چکیده This study investigated the effects of 0.01 wt.% Sr addition on the microstructure, impact toughness and corrosion behaviour of Al-20Mg2Si in-situ composite. Size, density and aspect ratio measurements presented that addition of 0.01 wt.% Sr refined the Mg2Si reinforcement. The results of Charpy V-notch impact tests at room temperature showed that Sr addition increased impact toughness by 75% as a result of change in Mg2Si particle morphology. Polarization corrosion tests conducted in sodium chloride solution showed that the corrosion current density increased from 0.58 µA/cm2 to 1.8 µA/cm2 with the addition of 0.01 wt.% Sr due to increase of boundaries between the Al and Mg2Si reinforcement particles.
